United Underwriters Notice of Data Breach

September 21, 2026

United Underwriters (“UUI”) values the trust our customers place in us, and we take the privacy and security of personal information seriously. In May 2026, UUI was the victim of a cybersecurity incident that affected personal information we collect as part of our underwriting and claims services. We have sent notification letters to those whose personal information was impacted where an address was on file. This notice is intended to provide the same information included in the notification letters to individuals for whom the company has insufficient or out-of-date contact information. We explain below what happened, what information may have been involved, what we are doing, and what steps you can take to protect yourself online.

What Happened?

Earlier this year, we identified suspicious activity on some of our systems. We promptly initiated our incident response processes, which included stopping the activity and initiating a forensic investigation, supported by third-party forensic experts. Following that investigation, we identified that certain files were downloaded by an unauthorized actor.

What information was involved?

Once we confirmed that the unauthorized actor downloaded data from our systems, we undertook a review process to programmatically and manually search for and extract personal information from the affected files. Following the investigation, we determined that the impacted data downloaded by the actor on May 1, 2026 varies by individual, but could include: name and date of birth, birth or marriage certificate, social security number, government-issued identification numbers, financial and payment card account numbers, health information, or account credentials.

What We’re Doing:

United Underwriters is committed to safeguarding your confidential and sensitive information. We are notifying individuals whose personal information was affected via U.S. mail, as required and where available. United Underwriters is offering 24-months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through our preferred third-party vendor, TransUnion. The notices provide the nature of the information involved and contact details for the dedicated TransUnion call center established to assist with enrollment for eligible individuals and to address any questions related to the incident. Individual notices were issued starting September 21, 2026.

In addition to the enterprise-wide security measures we had in place prior to the incident, we have taken steps to further safeguard our systems, including enhancing our security and monitoring controls. We will continue to strengthen our IT security and data privacy controls to stay ahead of an ever-evolving threat landscape.

What you can do:

Together with enrolling in the credit monitoring services being offered to individuals whose data was impacted at no charge, we encourage you to take ongoing data security precautions:

For more information:
